Deji Asubiaro

Asked where he derives his passion from, Deji sites his early days before immigrating to the USA – “Growing up in Nigeria, I had an early stir towards entrepreneurship – my dad was in the construction business and mum, while being a public servant, operated a small business. My engagement with my parents’ businesses exposed me to the rudiments, challenges and potentials of small businesses. This excited me and helped kindle my entrepreneurial spirit”.His foray into Strategy as a subject began at Vigeo Holdings (Nigeria) where he was a Management Executive Associate (Business & Corporate Development). He was involved in corporate strategy development. He researched trends, identified areas of value addition/cross fertilization within the organization and sourced for local and international strategic alliances for the various divisions within the company. His quest to understand the differential performance of organizations led him deeper into the strategy space. He has since worked for organizations, big and small, owned and managed several small businesses and acquired formal and informal education in this arena.
Outside of work, Deji enjoys spending time with his young family, engaging in outdoor activities, sports and trying out different cuisines in the Houston area.
Deji has a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Engineering from the University of Ibadan and University of Oklahoma respectively. He obtained a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) degree from Rice University and attended the Engineering and Technology Management Program at Colorado School of Mines. He has been involved in the conception, market entry and early stage management of several start-ups within different industries including Energy, Food / Hospitality, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Manufacturing and Retail. He has over 15 years of expertise in the areas of Operations Management, Strategy, Entrepreneurship and Leadership..
